The St. Valentinian Day Celebration

Sweet dreams of love

Living in the euphoria of the warm embrace of another,

Almost Irresistible

To those addicted to sweetness.

I’m glad I once touched such tasty moments

At the time I would have liked it to be forever

Except there followed

The return to the reality of living’s effort.

Passion is something that passes

Like hunger after eating

It is real in its moment

And then it moves from the dream

Carried into the next as the clock of reality

Takes in another breath in its continuum of flowing,

Fading and lost in the new

Like one season passing into the next.

And yet remembering never gets lost

Except to distractions

Shadowing the past’s brightness

Fading like the colors of fall

In the reality of cold

Reminding us of another time in existence

And the continuing growth of our becoming

Where we rise up beyond passion

To find a deeper essence and meaning

In the respect of what knowing becomes

In the character of another’s sharing

In the reality of love’s caring.

Like a perfume sending its essence

Beyond the beauty of fragrance’s embrace.
