The Dark Trail of Meaning

The Dark Trail of Meaning

Wandering around in my mind

Dissociated in the darkness of thinking’s kind

Questions arise.

Why do we fill emptiness with belief?

When it causes nothing but grief?

To the soul’s searching

in the mysteries of life?

Instead of seeking knowledge and meaning

In the search of becoming

With new visions of reality

Seen in the basics of truths learned

By holding itself in the awaking earned?

Why do we embrace a made up dream

And create a fantasy of it’s source

Comforting our emptiness

In self reassurance

To avoid the empty mind

Unfulfilled with reality’s story?

Is it because one is unable to hold

The void within?

So then we fill uncertainty

With arcane dreams

Of divine glory

To find emotional relief?

But why vilify

Those who won’t let themselves

Embrace the empty self’s desire?

Are we angry, jealous

Of those who would use

The gift of mind

To explore in the space of emptiness

With an ever greater knowing?

Something our dreaming cannot do

And return with something to hold.

Or does it take away the sanctuary of delusion

Hiding the restless discomfort of confusion

By bringing reality into our tiny presence

And awakening us from false conclusions?

Run for your life!

Awaken!

Let emptiness become a window for searching,

Looking, seeking to expand your mind

And watch it grow

As it brings us all closer

To the light of awareness

Instead of smothering it

In sanctimonious belief

And self rightness dreaming

Of what does not exist.

Let the healthy mind grow

And be nourished,

Feeding itself on knowledge

Discovered in the darkness.

It will fulfill our ego’s wanting

With validations

That cannot be found in self righteous fantasy

Or emotional desserts.

Discard the child’s primal mind of the past

Join the enlightenment

Fill yourself with knowledge

So that you too can grow

Into meanings shared

Beyond the believer’s dreaming.

Then walk upright with an opened mind

Untethered in the darkness of fantasy,

Empty of Dreams without substance,

And captured in self imposed ignorance and denial

Afraid of life,

Afraid of death.

Out of belief’s ghostly darkness

Climb

Into the light of enlightment

Shine.

A NOTE: This could take care of ‘meaning’s trail, but let’s be clear. Many are bound and settled in what they feel they “know” and conceive inherently in their habit of self identity. Most of us settle on an illusion of ourselves that is comforting, protective, and reassuring. This appears to become more intense as death creeps into the fantasy of our self importance throughout our lives. Then one’s sense of mortality continuously gains ground and presence in the reality of the biological experience of aging. Until death do we part. Are you afraid of the truth of it?
