The Sinking Ship of Fools

I am on a sinking “Ship of Fools”

Gas tank is empty,

The sail in shreds,

The rudder lost in the deep sea,

No Life boats

To save you or me.

The deck is crowded with gasping passengers

Escaping the poverty and disease below,

Everyone needing clean air,

The food is rotting

The water is foul,

All are surrounded in stinking waste.

Children and babies crying

And dying In abandonment’s arms,

All are embraced in anxious waiting

For what is to come.

The Captain is lost in drink,

Out of his mind,

The storm begins,

There is nowhere to go.

Meaning is lost,

Hope is gone,

Death has arrived,

The ship is sinking!

There is no where to hide,

Down goes wealth and power

Here comes time’s tide.

Meaning depends on what survives

From the remains of our kind,

Scattered in the infinite sea

The Last Shipwreck of Humankind.

Down goes the Ship of Fools

With all their arrogance, wealth and pride.
