The Monster’s Goal

Deception is like having a really good frosting on a bad cake. It’s only after you’ve had that first bite that you realize the truth!

I see the shine, but know the truth is undermined

I hear the glory and love in feeling’s expression

And see the knowledge of failure and deception

But, how can the true depth be seen

When the surface is designed to deceive

The true vision of the monster’s goal

Is to feast on innocence and ignorance

As its aim in meaning’s disguise

And the image of love’s embrace

Is not the same as what is said and done

Truth deceived and hidden in evil’s control

Heavy hands strangling the soul of substance

With deceptive minds

Manipulating the heart

Under the heel of oppression’s foot

Here is yet another nightmare returning

From tyranny hiding its cruel deeds

Beneath chosen words used to deceive

And blind the mind

Made sightless in feeling’s will

So how do I see through the veil

Of the false image brought and shaped

To capture and manipulate

What is beyond the doorway of feelings

Blocked with malicious intent of the trapper’s will

To capture and kill

What is inside

The integrity of good will

As deceptions of intent

Grips its meaning

Common sense captured and distorted

Content lost and Reason plundered

In Power’s certainty

So off the edge of hope it goes

Again, to fall into the pit of deception

To begin again to struggle with tyranny’s lies

But first, freedom of thought that is true must die

And awaken to another storm of soul

Suffering to survive

From yet another death under tyranny’s lie

Even the common voice is muffled

Scattered in the storm of deception’s skills

As I and we drown again

In complacent ignorance and broken truth

It is a repeat of another story’s ending

In Liberty’s circle

With life and death of all

A broken trust lost in destiny’s will

Leaving another emptiness of words

To fill.
