(I look at these numbers and see magic in one more year on the same date. It sits in a magic moment in time.)
I really don’t know where this is taking me. I am feeling the need to give more effort to do this writing that has been so fulfilling and productive. There remains so many follow up details that I can’t fulfill or keep up with. I decided that I must prioritize the writing, doing the best I can with the rest.
So, on and on it goes…we humans are immersed in the breakdown of the earth’s life support system that all species depends upon for existence. The burden of sustaining human life is at a breaking point. So great is the drain on the environment, so destructive and damaging to the well being of all life on earth. The current trajectory we are on cannot be sustained. The earth’s system cannot keep up with its own balance in living and provision.
The question is, ”How much longer can Nature’s bio-system tolerate humanity?”
We have arrived, this is it. Nature’s present level of disruption is the key to driving human behavior into entropy.
This is our undoing in the biological dialogue of life when it turns from growth and vitality into self destruction. In the act of turning from what is necessary to what is desired, humanity continues to destroy all that is essential to survival. It is the destruction of the resources that are essential to the existence of life as we know it. Life itself depends upon it, its continuation depends on self regulation, seeking balance. When this balance disappears and turns on itself in mindless consumption, ignorance and corruption of necessities, it then turns upon nature and itself and becomes a cancer eating its host.
This is visible in the present, in the collection of data and observation. All science accepts this aggravation of the forces of Nature and its imbalance. This knowledge and understanding of physical phenomenon is scientifically measured and documented and yet, it is denied by most. Tribal leaders and the majority of the population seem to be intentionally in denial and both unaware and uninformed throughout the species.
Populations are expanding as human beings continue their irrational, unconstrained breeding . The result is a destructive abuse of nature in a pathological denial of knowledge, the functioning of the biosphere of life. Their life, your life, my life, depends upon Nature’s wellbeing. Abuse of Nature is the path to extinction.
The momentum of the collapse of the supportive patterns of weather and climate have, in my opinion, already passed the point of no return. The 7.6 billion living human individuals on this planet are presently reacting negatively in the chaos of economic, environmental and social disruption, in scientific ignorance, in desperate quarrels of ownership over resources, wealth, land, water, food… a hysterical militant dominance and ignorance of humanity’s interdependence in a fantasy of irrational belief, based on self deception. Ignorance prevails, denial governs, ego’s violence dominates. This is the content and the context of the current governing in a paradigm of exclusive wealth exploitation, control, acquisition, dominance and self destructive denial of rational reality.
How much time do we have? I believe it could be as little as a decade when we crash in a crisis of incoherent governance, economic collapse and global famine. Some things may take longer, but the crisis is affecting all of humanity right now. How long does it take for fear to dominate trust?
