The Thread of Meaning

Two poems:

  1. The Afterglow
  2. Concept’s Sandwich

So I guess this is my full moon gift, the thread of alignment with meanings flow, grateful, magnificent in good and bad. I am just one small container that is full and overflowing with the whole cosmos yet to go.

I want to speak of the ‘thread’ that connects one to one’s self and one’s own life that William Stafford speaks of. I am so fortunate to understand, to know how and where to find it and do it. I say ‘where’ because I sense this to be a challenging concept to comprehend and explain, but it’s so important.

In reaching, there needs to be a posture of thinking that is empty. This means one is there without reason, purpose or meaning. One is there simply to listen and follow what comes through without judgment or expectation, especially those ‘ideas’ and concepts of what one might conceive it to be.

It might be part of something you ‘want’, i.e. connecting with something deeper in yourself, but you discover that in the process of reaching for it. Practice is the only way to connect with the thread and to enable what it does, rather than projecting your own expectations onto it, what you want it to be. One has to learn to clear one’s mind of thoughts and let the thread speak instead.

I hope this helps clarify a process that, initially for most of us, can be difficult to understand, discover and learn to do.  It is a blessing that will fill the empty self with life and living.
